The 82nd session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) was held in Bangkok, the capital of the Kingdom of Thailand, under Azerbaijan’s chairmanship. Azerbaijan was represented at the event by a large delegation.
At the session, Eltaj Abbasov, Head of Sector at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, delivered a speech titled “Inclusive Transport and Accessibility in the Asia-Pacific Region: Experiences and Future Directions.” He provided participants with detailed information on measures undertaken to strengthen connectivity in urban transport, enhance accessibility, advance digitalization, and apply data-driven approaches in transport planning. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of integrated mobility solutions, the improvement of service quality, and the role of digital tools in the decision-making process.
It was also noted that one of the key transport policy recommendations adopted under Azerbaijan’s Presidency of the International Transport Forum for 2025–2026 is dedicated to promoting urban mobility and inclusive transport. It was further highlighted that these priorities are fully aligned with the UNESCAP agenda.
The session highlighted the importance of further strengthening cooperation with regional partners to promote inclusive and sustainable transport systems.
