At the event, Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, discussed the role of the Baku Sustainability Coalition, established during COP29, in fostering global cooperation on climate-resilient, people-centered urban development. He emphasized that this initiative supports the continuity of urban climate action, the application of best practices, and the integration of urban planning policies.

He also noted that the Coalition, whose key members include Egypt, the UAE, Azerbaijan, and Brazil, operates on a voluntary cooperation basis and is open to partner countries. Its main activities include communication, showcasing successful projects, sustaining ministerial-level dialogue, and engaging diverse stakeholders.

Anar Guliyev expressed his belief that, through the Coalition, stronger coordination within the framework of next year’s World Urban Forum in Baku (WUF13) will accelerate the implementation of global commitments at the local level and contribute to the creation of safe, inclusive, and sustainable cities.
