The final conference is held on "Dual Vocational Education Programme" for this academic year.
Baku, 18 July 2023 – The European Union (EU), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the State Agency on Vocational Education (SAVE) held a final event to share the results of dual education programme for 2022-2023 education year.
The event was organised as part of the “VET for the Future” project and brought together over 40 private companies, the graduates and the mentors of the dual programme, the management staff of the vocational education and training institutions and the official representatives from the EU, UNDP and SAVE.
During the dual education programme, students pursue their studies in the VET institutions and gain hands-on experience at a private sector company according to their vocation area. The students tap into the expertise of their mentors in the real work environment and learn labour – demanded skills while applying theoretical knowledge gained in VET centers. The programme helps vocational centers to be directly aware of the market requirements and enable them to make relevant changes in the educational content. Furthermore, the dual approach helps the enterprises to develop their potential staff with less resources and bring about new partnerships by accessing various networks in education and private sector areas.
During the project’s work with the private sector, 32 companies joined the dual/ work-based learning programme since 2021. 41 from 8 vocational education institutions, and 126 mentors from the private sector were involved to the process in 24 different vocations including tourism and hospitality, transport, furniture manufacturing and media. With the support of the project, 573 students from Baku, Ganja, Jalilabad, Lankaran and Sheki cities participated in this programme and over 70% of the graduates received official job offers from the companies that they’ve completed their practice time.
The dual / work-based learning programme is implemented under the project’s work with the private sector and addresses the project’s targets in introducing innovations, improving capacities and networking in vocational education area in Azerbaijan.
