Nargis Wieck, Executive Director of AHK Azerbaijan, joined the panel “Advancing the Green Energy Industry through Innovation, Digital Technologies, and Regional Collaboration” at Baku Climate Action Week 2026.
She presented Azerbaijan as a strategic link between Central Asia, the Caspian region and Europe, noting that the Middle Corridor can evolve beyond transport into an integrated route for energy and digital infrastructure.

Wieck noted that reliable local partners, internationally aligned standards and transparent certification procedures are essential for foreign companies entering Azerbaijan and the wider Caspian market. She also stressed the importance of showcasing successful reference projects that demonstrate how investments can be structured and implemented in practice.
In this context, she highlighted the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor and the Green Energy Corridor Power Company (GECO) as key frameworks for German and European participation as technology providers, investors, project partners and potential off takers. A concrete example is the Non-Disclosure Agreement between GECO and Siemens Energy Global GmbH & Co. KG, signed during the Germany-Azerbaijan Export and Finance Conference in Baku. The agreement envisages cooperation on green-energy transmission using high-voltage direct current technology.
Building on its long-standing cooperation with the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA), AHK Azerbaijan will continue facilitating market access and connecting relevant stakeholders. These priorities will also be advanced at the German-Azerbaijani Connectivity Conference 2026 in Baku on 6 October.
