Azerbaijan represented at the 4th session of the Council of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities

The representative of the State Maritime and Port Agency, Director of the Vessel Traffic Management Center, and master mariner Mazahir Niftiyev represented our country in Paris at the 4th session of the Council of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA).

The session covered discussions on issues related to international marine navigation, safety of navigation, development of navigation equipment, implementation of digital technologies in the relevant field, the activity directions of IALA, as well as the expansion of cooperation between member states.

Speaking at the event, the Agency's representative Mazahir Niftiyev stated that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with IALA. He brought to attention that our country supports initiatives aimed at strengthening the safety of navigation and the protection of the marine environment. Maritime affairs in Azerbaijan possess rich traditions and history. Currently, several consecutive measures are being implemented in the direction of developing the infrastructure in the field of maritime transport in accordance with international standards.

It was emphasized during the session that the expansion of the exchange of experience, the strengthening of technical cooperation, and the implementation of modern navigation technologies have paramount importance for the safe and sustainable development of global maritime transport.

Within the framework of the international event, Mazahir Niftiyev, representative of the Agency, also held a series of meetings. During the meetings with the President of IALA, Marcos Almeida, and the Secretary-General, Francis Zachariae, he exchanged views on projects implemented in the field of vessel traffic management, as well as prospects for future cooperation.
