On 28 May 2026, within the framework of his visit to the Republic of Italy, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf held a series of meetings.
Initially, a meeting was held with the members of the Board of Directors and SOCAR and Italiana Petroli representatives at the office of Italiana Petroli. The meeting focused on the company’s current activities, its position in the Italian market, strategic objectives and priority issues for the upcoming period.
Subsequently, the SOCAR President met with Gianni Murano, President of UNEM, and Aurelio Regina, Energy Delegate of the Confindustria Confederation, representing Italy’s energy sector.
During the meetings, the growing role of Azerbaijan in ensuring Europe’s energy security and the importance of the steps taken towards the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor were highlighted. The parties reviewed opportunities for cooperation between SOCAR and Italian companies across various segments of the energy sector, including infrastructure development, transportation and supply of natural gas, and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
