The 18th Annual Meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission was held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan was represented at the event by a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Javid Gurbanov, as well as Fariz Aliyev, National Secretary of TRACECA in Azerbaijan.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Javid Gurbanov highlighted Azerbaijan’s active role in TRACECA and stressed the particular importance of cooperation with the organization. He also provided information on measures undertaken to develop the transport and logistics sector, as well as on ongoing efforts to simplify and digitalize transit procedures.
During the meeting, the TRACECA Single Transit Permit Agreement was signed by Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The document will reduce the number of transit permits required for carriers from the participating states when transiting through the territories of other member countries. In particular, it will eliminate the need to obtain separate permits from multiple countries for a single transit operation, thereby streamlining and optimizing procedures.
The expansion of cooperation within TRACECA and the simplification of transit procedures significantly contribute to enhancing regional transport connectivity, strengthening the resilience of international logistics chains, and boosting the competitiveness of Europe–Asia transport routes.
During the meeting, Vugar Orujov, Senior Advisor at the Ministry’s Transport Policy Department, was awarded the TRACECA badge of honor in recognition of his contribution to the organization’s activities.
