An information session dedicated to the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) was held at Baku State University (BSU).
The event brought together university students and faculty members.
Speaking at the session, BSU Vice-Rector Alish Agamirzayev noted that Azerbaijan has hosted numerous prestigious international events in recent years, and that WUF13, which will take place in Baku, is among the country’s most significant upcoming international forums. He also emphasized that BSU students are actively participating in various educational projects within the framework of the forum.
Press Secretary of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture Ramiz Hasanov stated that Azerbaijan’s urban development projects and best practices are attracting considerable interest on international platforms. According to him, hosting WUF13 in Baku reflects the country’s achievements in this field.
Emin Huseynzade, Communications Manager of the Azerbaijani operating company for WUF13, noted that the World Urban Forum was established in 2001 and is the largest non-legislative global event organized by the United Nations.
Following the presentations, the participants’ questions were answered.
WUF13 will be held in Baku on May 17–22. The forum is being organized in close cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and aims to promote the exchange of international experience in sustainable urban development, smart cities, and innovative urban solutions.
