On 13 May, Baku State University hosted an information session dedicated to the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) as part of broader efforts to strengthen public awareness of the event. The session brought together members of the university’s academic staff, alongside nearly 400 students from Baku State University and the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction.
Speaking at the event, Alish Aghamirzayev, Vice-Rector of Baku State University, noted that the university’s students will contribute to WUF13 as volunteers. Underscoring the significance of the event both for Azerbaijan and the wider international community, he encouraged students to take an active role in the programme.
Ramiz Idrisoghlu, a representative of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, provided an overview of Azerbaijan’s contemporary urban development agenda, highlighting ongoing initiatives across the sector alongside emerging approaches to employment, inclusivity and mobility in urban planning.
Emin Huseynzade, Communications Manager at the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operations Company, provided a detailed presentation on WUF13 and invited the university’s academic staff and students to take part in the event, noting that the programme has now been officially unveiled. He added that participants will be able to join both in person and online, while further details on the programme and related events are available via www.wuf13.az.
The WUF13 Festival will continue at 18:00 with an evening public programme near the Clock Tower in the Seaside National Park.
Through a dynamic programme of interactive activities, educational games, presentations and public discussions, audiences will be engaged with key themes ranging from sustainable urban development and inclusive urban environments to innovative city solutions and the future of urban living. Participants will also gain deeper insight into the central themes and guiding vision underpinning WUF13.
