A meeting titled “Cooperation with the Human Resources Departments of Shipping Companies and Discussion of Solutions to Existing Issues” was held at the State Maritime and Port Agency. The meeting began with a presentation on the reforms implemented in recent years in the field of seafarer certification and the results achieved.

Within the framework of the meeting, an exchange of views took place on a number of issues. The main topics of discussion included the perspective of shipping companies’ human resources departments on the concept of sea service certificates, ensuring accurate recording of sea service periods, increasing data consistency between the Agency and shipping companies, and improving documentation and approval mechanisms.

In addition, the discussion covered the key certificates required from crew members in the shipping sector, monitoring the validity periods of certificates, the role of shipping companies’ human resources departments in renewal and initial issuance processes, strengthening coordination between the Agency and companies in certification matters, as well as existing risks and compliance issues.

Participants also drew attention to the implementation of the requirements of the International Code of Safety for Ships Carrying Industrial Personnel (IP Code) and, within this framework, the mechanisms of flag State control.

During the event, views were exchanged on cooperation opportunities between the Agency and the human resources departments of shipping companies, improving information exchange, establishing unified approaches, developing joint working mechanisms, and future initiatives. The meeting concluded with answers to participants’ questions.
